We’ve designed a structured process for fitting implants. We use the same process for all implant procedures, whether it is for a single implant or for a full arch.

Step 1 – Consultation

During the initial consultation, you can tell us what your concerns are, what you would like to achieve from any treatment with us, and in which ways dental implants would benefit you personally.

You may be fed up of using a removable denture and want a fixed option. You may be embarrassed of a visible gap when you smile and has been zapping your confidence. Or you may just want to have a missing chewing tooth replaced so you can tuck into steak more comfortably.

We will need to check if you are suitable for implants. If we discover that you may not be suitable, we can talk through any alternatives, making sure that you can still get the smile you desire.

Step 2 – The Definitive Treatment Plan

When we start to create your treatment plan, we will need to fully assess your mouth. We will take X-rays, pictures and moulds of your teeth. These help us to work out where to position the teeth before we look at where we put the implants, since we work to achieve the best possible appearance and the most comfortable bite. Once we have this information we can then position the implants accordingly.

We will take a 3D X-ray, also known as a CT scan, which allows us to accurately determine how much bone you have and allows us to map and avoid major structures such as nerve canals and nose sinuses, making our treatments as safe and accurate as possible.

We can then combine this information to produce surgical guides that allow us to accurately and predictably carry out your treatment in a calm and organised manner.

Step 3 – Your Fixed Quote

At this stage, we will provide you with a jargon free, easy to understand quote for your total treatment cost. There will be no hidden extras or surprises. You will not be put under any pressure to go ahead with treatment and will have time to consider things and get back to us as needed.

There are a range of payment options that we will be happy to discuss with you if you desire. Only once you are completely happy will we go ahead with treatment.

Step 4 – Implant Placement & Restoration

During every step of the process, we make sure you are informed of what we are doing and what to expect, both during and after the any procedures. People regularly tell us they are pleasantly surprised at how straightforward the appointments are, which is a result of the careful planning we do before getting to this stage.

If you have any questions before, during or after your implant appointments, we will always be happy to help and ask that you share any concerns or questions you have, whether you feel they are trivial or not.

There will be a series of appointments in most cases, that will cover several weeks or months, to allow for healing of the gums and bone around implants and to also allow for time taken for your bespoke implant restorations to be made in the specialist lab. These will then be fitted in your mouth and checked to ensure they look and feel great.

Step 5 – Implant Aftercare

Dental implants are not ‘Fit and Forget’ – they require regular inspection and maintenance. We will give you demonstrations on how to care for the implants at home as part of your daily routine.

We will also arrange for you to see the hygienist regularly to ensure the gums around the implants remain healthy. Your implant dentist will regularly examine the implant restorations both visually and with X-rays to check they are functioning optimally, so you can enjoy them for many years.
